Costume Gallery > Pizzazz
Character:
Pizzazz (Lead singer of The Misfits), from Jem and The Holograms
First worn at:
Designed to the NINES, 14th annual NBCCD fashion show.
I had a model lined up for the show, but she wasn't sure who she wanted to be, so I looked at her and thought "she would be a great 80s cartoon villain"! It was between Catra from She-Ra, Princess of Power (He-Man's much cooler twin sister) and a character from Jem and the Holograms. I settled on Pizzazz, because I just really loved Jem and the Holograms as a little girl, it was my favorite cartoon, and I knew my model would 'ROCK' the outfit.
I'm always up for a challenge in my work. In the case of Pizzazz, I was working with fabrics that had a nap (a directional weave or pattern that is smooth one way and rough the other), I would have to drape the collar, and I was working with a stretch velour for the top, belt and legwarmer.
