Character:
Rapunzel, Disney's Tangled
First worn at:
Designed to the NINES, 14th annual NBCCD fashion show.
It's no secret: I love the colours red and purple, and you don't get much more purple then Rapunzel. I loved this movie, although I was unsure (until it came out) that Disney could ever match the quality of their CG animation to that of their hand drawn animation. I still prefer the hand drawn animation more, but I finally found a Disney Princess whom I could say was like me. Every girl likes to have a Disney girl they can identify with, and I am definitely Rapunzel: immature, clumsy, hyperactive, and creative.
What fun I had making this costume and tracking down a frying pan, crown, and someone who could make me a scale Pascal lizard! The costume itself is only two pieces... two pieces that look like four. The skirt is hemmed shorter then the lining to show the lace trim on the petticoat and the sleeves are sewn separately and then attached to the armholes of a 5 layered, fully boned corset.
